He posted her picture on his Official Facebook Fanpage The first Punjabi descent world boxing champion Amir Khan has become a dad for the first time, after his wife Faryal Makhdoom gave birth to a baby girl.

27-year old former two-time world champion and Pakistani-American student have given their daughter the Arabic name of Lamysa Khan, which means “soft to the touch”, the star confirmed on his Twitter account.

The couple married on May 31, 2013 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. The couple then flew back to Khan’s hometown of Bolton.

Britain’s youngster ever boxing medallist at the 2004 Olympics in Athens confirmed the delighted news on his Twitter account, “Faryal and I are delighted to announce the birth our first child Lamysa Khan everyone doing very well, thank you for all your wishes.”

He posted another tweet as he mentioned his wife Faryal Makhdoom, “Mine and @FaryalxMakhdoom New born baby LAMYSA. Born on 23rd May 2014 at 4:05am £Blessed”.

Mr Khan, has past and present involvements in supporting charitable and community causes, has thousands of fans in every part of the world but he has a large number of his fans and follwers in Pakistan.

Khan revealed in an interview before his daughter’s birth that he was ready to settle down and become a family man, “The past couple of years, have been crazy – fighting, boxing. I’ve lived that single life, but it is the right time to settle down and be with the wife and have my own little family”, according to British tabloid Mail Online.

“Becoming a dad will help with my boxing, for sure. The baby will keep me settled for sure because there will be someone to look after. I’ll have my wife [Faryal Makhdoom] and my baby girl to look after”, he continued.
