2. Homemade Scrub

You can also choose for a homemade scrub with the use of baking soda/salt and lemon juice. Baking soda has substances that make the skin super soft and because of its rough texture, it also helps in getting rid of dead skin cells. You have to do is to mix 1/4 cup of baking soda or salt and add a fine amount of lemon juice to make it into a paste. Scrub your knees and elbows with this paste and leave it on for 20 minutes. Wash it with warm water. You will notice that your skin will become super soft.

3. Care and Moisturize

One of the biggest reasons of a person having dark elbows and knees is having dry skin. Dry skin has the tendency to flake and without protection, your skin will continue to produce new skin cells. Moisturizing your skin after exfoliating can definitely stop one from having dry skin. The ingredients contain properties that help lighten the skin and thus will be able to lighten your dark areas. Mix 1 tsp Vitamin E, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1 tsp glycerin, and 4 Tbsp milk. Using this paste rub and leave them on the affected areas for 10-15 minutes before washing them off.

Tip 1:

Rub with lime juice, leave for 10-15 minutes. Soak a towel in hot water and scrub firmly.

Tip 2:

Mix 1 tspn coconut oil with ½ a tspn of lime juice. Apply and wash in the same way with a hot towel.

Rough Hands and Feet:

Tip 1:

Soak hands and feet in water to which corn flour has been added. Soak for 5-10 minutes.

Tip 2:

Roast an onion, mash and make a paste. Apply on cracked heels. Wash after 20 minutes. Continue for a month till the cracks heal.

Tip 3:

After a bath massage Mustard oil well into hands and feet. Wash with water and touch with a towel to dry.

Tip 4:

For cracks in heels, mix Candle wax with Mustard oil. Heat and apply. Wear socks and leave overnight.


Crush 6 Aspirin tablets in 1cup of water with 1 tspn lime juice. Coat the calluses with this. Cover with a warm towel. After 10 minutes scrub with pumice stone and wash.


Once a week in ½ a bucket of water add 2 tblspns of Vinegar and 1 tspn of lime juice. Add a gentle shampoo and soak hands and feet for 10-15 minutes. Rub with a pumice stone and then take a bath.
